Directions:

Kew is situated on the south bank of the River Thames near Richmond, about 10 km south-west of London.

We encourage you to visit Kew Gardens via public transport for environmental reasons, and because it is usually more convenient as we have limited parking.

The best way to get to Kew from the centre or West End of London is by London Underground. Buses serve those living north or south of Kew and the neighbouring suburbs. 

By Underground:

Kew Gardens station is the nearest to Kew Gardens and is in travelcard zone 3. From central London, the District Line train (destination "Richmond") stops at Kew Gardens station.

By Train:
London Overground trains stop at Kew Gardens station from N and NW London. Mainline train services with South West Trains from Waterloo stop at Kew Bridge station, just 10 minutes walk from the gardens.

London Overground : From north London, London Overground trains run directly to Kew Gardens station. North Woolwich, West Ham, Stratford, Highbury and Islington, West Hampstead, Willesden Junction, Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens, Richmond.
Frequency: Monday to Saturday, every 20 minutes.

South West Trains: London Waterloo, Vauxhall, Queenstown Road (Battersea), Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Town, Putney, Barnes, Barnes Bridge, Chiswick, Kew Bridge, Hounslow, Isleworth, Syon Lane, Brentford.
Frequency: Mon - Sat every 15 minutes. Sundays: hourly

If you have mobility problems and are travelling to Kew Gardens station you may find it easier to travel on to Richmond station and change to a train or tube going back to Kew Gardens. By doing this you can avoid the stairs at Kew Gardens station.
